
Chicago has 77 “community areas” which are divided into neighborhoods. Locals are sometimes fiercely divided about where neighborhood boundaries lie. See the index below to get started.
Chicago can be subdivided in many ways, with the largest areas being directional “sides”: north, west and south. There is no “east side” of Chicago, as the city is bordered by Lake Michigan from north to south. I’ve taken my queue here from a real estate website, and further subdivided the N/W/S for ease of use.
